Zoom classes

A quick transition to Zoom classes! (and a peek behind the scenes in photo above!)

Louisa Harris Pilates is renown for our safe and effective teaching with the majority of our teachers certified by Body Control Pilates (http://www.bodycontrolpilates.com/).

As of 25th March 2020 we already applied good hygiene practices at our studios and classes but had stepped these up over the last month due to increasing concern about Covid-19. As we're all aware the Government guidelines began to change over the last week or so and as soon Boris gave advice for everyone to reduce and avoid all non essential social contact we knew that we had to act quickly to move our classes online. Our team worked together and decided that Zoom would be a good solution for us and within a day or so of Boris's advice we began to shift our existing class schedule online.

Uptake has been amazing, our clients are so grateful to be able to continue with their classes and to interact with their class mates and teacher as usual, especially so when self-isolating and now in lockdown. It's a welcome distraction for us all to work on our mind and body connection at this time. We're maintaining our usual strong principles of a max of 12 people in a class and as all of us (clients and teachers) are becoming more proficient Zoom users our teachers are able to check their client's positioning and alignment as well as to offer alternatives where needed for any specific health conditions or movement restrictions. If our teacher's schedule permits and there are class spaces available we're keen to welcome beginners but they need to complete our Enrolment form for health screening so we can ensure that the exercises in our lesson plan are appropriate for the needs of all participants.

Here's some feedback from Barbara:

"Just a note to say I thoroughly enjoyed zooming on Wednesday evening and felt so good after doing the exercises!
The use of the roller has given me so much more release in certain areas, especially threading the needle! I’ve done it both evenings since and my back feels great.

I thought the zoom class worked really well and I did feel like I was in the room with you. I can only imagine how challenging it must be for you to keep your eyes on everyone from a distance but I think you’ve done this really well, offered so many cues and mods for everyone."
