Pilates Matwork Equipment and alternatives!

You may already be well equipped for your practice.  A mat is an essential so select one that's thick and padded enough to be comfortable for you.  A camping mat or blanket under a thinner yoga mat can work really well if you have those to hand.

If you need to stock up or expand your personal Pilates kit I always use and highly recommended The Physical Company.

I've detailed below common items usually used at the studio along with alternatives you may have at home, you do not need everything but perhaps select the items you most enjoy using during classes.  We can always adapt to whatever you have available either for virtual or in person sessions.

If ordering any items please use my affiliate links per items as below and let me know if you have any queries - thank you!  If you are local to me and would prefer for me to add your items to my next bulk order please let me know.

Airex Luxury Mats

(Various available)

I use the Airex mats as detailed above for my practice at home and some of you used these at classes too (if you had  one of the extra padded black mats at Stoke Hammond)

The  green mats that we used at Stoke Hammond classes are detailed  below.

Studio folding mats large

(Various available)

Head cushion small (no cover) 1"

Small head cushion covers

Large head cushion (no cover) 3"

Large head cushion covers

You can also use cushions or pillows you may already have at home!

Blocks & Bricks

Overball 7"

(this was green one used at Stoke Hammond classes)

Trinity ball 10"

(this was blue one used at Stoke Hammond classes)

You can use cushions or pillows you may already have at home!

Spikey balls

(Various available)

Pair gives you more options

Therapy balls (like Franklin balls)

Pair gives you more options - they may be more comfortable than spikey balls for some work

You can use tennis balls or small balls you may already have at home!

Resistance bands - selection

Yellow - extra light

Pink - light

Purple - medium

I tend to get a roll to cut band to approx mat length so that gives your more options so try to ensure any you select are long enough

You can use a stretchy scarf or old pair of tights as an alternative!

Cotton Loop Bands

Hand weights

We tend to use light weights from 0.5kg/1kg

You can use tin cans or bottles of water as an alternative!

Foam rollers

Full length is 6" x 35"

Half roller is 3" x 35"

You can use a rolled up big towel or blanket as an alternative!

Exhale healthy coffee

If you enjoy your coffee but would like to make it healthier I highly recommend Exhale coffee!

Free sample & 50% off here: Exhale Coffee

Exhale Coffee is marketed as a healthier coffee due to its exceptional antioxidant levels (high polyphenols), which reduce caffeine jitters and support brain/gut health, plus significant Vitamin B3 (Niacin) for energy and stress support, all while being tested free from common contaminants like mold and pesticides, offering a "cleaner" boost. Key benefits include jitter-free focus, improved performance, better gut health (polyphenols feed good microbes), and longevity support from DNA protection.
